Watches Wednesday: Tudor Black Bay GMT
Tudor has expanded its iconic Black Bay family with one of the latest additions unveiled at Baselworld 2018. The Black Bay GMT comes with a multiple time-zone function, with additional timezones being displayed on Tudor’s signature snowflake hand (since 1969), in red.
With a bidirectional rotatable bezel, in matte deep blue and burgundy, the first thing that came to mind when I saw this timepiece, is the Limited Edition GMT Master-II “Pepsi” from Rolex, which also happens to be Tudor’s sister brand. The 12 daylight hours are printed on the burgundy section of the bezel, while the blue section indicates the evening/nighttime hours on this 41mm watch. Its luminescent markers on the dial also enables the wearer to tell the time in the dark. Taking after its predecessors, particularly the first generation of Tudor divers’ watches, this timepiece is waterproof up to 200 metres (660 feet). Choose between the steel bracelet version, “Terra di Siena” brown leather strap with folding clasp, or black fabric strap, with a burgundy band.
