Watches Wednesday: Roger Dubuis Limited Edition White Excalibur Huracan
Roger Dubuis has dropped a frosty all-white Excalibur Huracán! Crafted in Ceramic Composite Fibre (CCF), a material that is commonly used in the production of space rockets, the Manufacture combined resin with ceramic fibres to produce this hybrid material with a marbled effect that’s incredibly lightweight that’s 20% lighter than carbon.
Powered by the RD630 automatic calibre, this 45mm Excalibur Huracán is the latest to join the ongoing Roger Dubuis x Lamborghini Squadra Corse partnership. Like the other timepieces from the Huracán family, you’d notice the same signature design codes like the hexagonal dashboard of the same Lamborghini model, as well as the twin barrels and the 12 degree tilted balance wheel which represents the movement signature corresponding to the Square Corse. Flip the watch over onto the back, and you’d notice the semi-skeletonised movement with the 360 degree oscillating rim in full view, that reproduces the speed effect of the luxury sports car’s Huracán wheel rim. Its crown was also inspired by the racing nuts paired with the upper calibre strut-bar design bridge that pays homage to that on the Huracán’s V10 engine.
As with other Roger Dubuis timepieces, the watch glows in the dark thanks to the upper flange and hands filled with SuperLuminova™, as well as on the tilted surfaces and strut-bars – an amazing technical feat pioneered by the Manufacture for the first time ever in luxury watchmaking, that made its debut last year. This time around, there’s also the addition of SuperBiwiNova®, which melts SuperLuminova™ directly inside the watch’s white rubber inlay strap that makes parts of the centre of the strap glow in the dark as well.
Only 88 pieces of this Limited Edition Boutique exclusive ultra lightweight 45mm Frosty White Excalibur Hurácan are available globally.
