Watches Wednesday: MB&F x Bulgari Legacy Machine FlyingT Allegra Limited Edition
Bulgari has partnered with MB&F, a Rome-based Maison known for its cabochon-cut coloured gemstones in jewellery watches, on this stunning timepiece known as the Legacy Machine FlyingT Allegra. Yep, as with watches, “FlyingT” stands for Flying Tourbillon, but apart from that, the “T” also pays homage to Tiffany, Max Büsser’s wife, because this watch is designed to be the epitome of femininity.
This convex, three dimensional case is home to a unique movement that is vertically built along a central axis, making the mechanism entirely visible right at the centre of the bulbous crystal “bubble”. At the upper end of the exist, you’d find the diamond-set flying Tourbillon and the balance, set at a 50 degree angle, so that the time is only visible to the wearer. Flip the watch on over to its back, and you’d notice the star-shaped oscillating weight with tis gold sandblasted rays rotating on the ruthenium disc positioned above a platinum counterweight. And, this sunray motif is certainly reminiscent of the Maison’s previously discontinued Tondo Sole (or Tondo Sun) pendant on a leather cord, thus making this creation quintessentially Bulgari.
With a 100-hour power reserve, this futuristic yet feminine Limited Edition watch is also set with cabochon-cut tourmaline, tsavorite, diamonds, rubellite, amethyst, tanzanite, and topaz that forms a circular frame around the beating heart of the watch, with an entirely paved snow-set diamond dial.
Available in 18karat white gold (green alligator strap), or in 18karat rose gold (pink alligator strap), in a Limited Edition of 20 pieces each.
