Watches Wednesday: Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils 3 New Reverso Models
Jaeger-LeCoultre‘s most iconic timepiece, the Reverso, now has 3 new additions, introduced at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). First introduced in 1931, this reversible timepiece, designed especially to protect the watch, usually comes with a customisable reverse side or second dial. This year, the new additions that join the Reverso family are the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds, Reverso Tribute Duoface, Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano Limited, and the Reverso One Duetto.
Available in an intoxicating, intense red, the new Reverso Tribute Small Seconds, comes with a blank, fully customisable reverse side. Powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822/2 manually wound mechanical movement, it’s paired with a matching topstitched strap designed by Casa Fagliano, the Argentian bootmaker, which is involved in international polo championships. Casa Fagliano has a close relationship with the Maison, designing several special editions together on numerous occasions.
The Reverso Tribute Duoface was developed specifically for the Reverso in 1994. Duoface models typically feature two timezones on separate dials powered by a single movement (Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 854A/2) in a 10.3mm thick case. On its main face (or front of the watch), the aperture at 6 o’clock features small seconds, while the reverse side comes with a day/night indicator, so that you can determine whether it’s daytime or nighttime in your home country when travelling.
For 2019, the Duoface also comes in a Fagliano Limited Edition in a pink gold case with a blue sunray-brushed ground on the front and the classic silver guilloché motif on the reverse side. Of course, like any Fagliano edition, the timepiece also comes with a Cordovan leather strap in 2 tones of bright blue, with the bookmaker’s signature topstitching. Only 100 pieces of the Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano Limited are available globally.
Finally, the Reverso One Duetto is one of the women’s models introduced at SIHH 2019. Now in pink gold, the watch comes with a strip of brilliant-cut diamonds on either end of the case. With its silvered guilloché dial on one side, and the lacquered burgundy dial with gold plated hour markers on the reverse, this timepiece, equipped with the Calibre 844, is the epitome of what you’d call a “day-to-night” watch that easily transitions from casual, to evening-appropriate.
