Watches Wednesday: IWC Introduces 6 New Portofino Models For 2019
2019 sees the addition of 6 new models to the Portofino family. The star for this year is the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase, which, for the first time, ever, combines a 40mm timepiece with a moon phase complication – the moon phase was only incorporated into 37mm or 45mm models prior to this . The watch is available in 2 stainless steel variations; one with a silver plated dial, gold-plated hands and appliqués with a brown alligator strap by Santoni; while the other, comes with a blue dial, rhodium-plated hands and appliqués, and a black alligator Santoni strap.

Since 1984, the Portofino range has established itself as one of our most successful watch families. Both men and women alike are drawn to the classic appeal of this timepiece, with its minimalistic round case, Roman numerals and simple hour markers that characterise this collection. This is why we are pleased to extend the family with eleven [5 of which are for women] attractive new timepieces ~ Christian Knoop, Creative Director of IWC Schaffhausen ~
Ever since its debut in 1984, IWC‘s Portofino collection has been attributed as one of the Maison’s signature collections. Sure, with its clean and simple design devoid of all the bells and whistles that we’ve become accustomed to seeing today, the fact that remains, is that it is a true classic that has withstood the test of time.
