Watches Wednesday: Hublot’s Limited Edition Big Bang Sang Bleu II
When a Swiss Manufacture and Tattoo Artist join forces, we get Hublot‘s Big Bang Sang Bleu II Limited Edition, which made its debut at the LVMH Watch Week in Dubai in January this year. Inspired by tattooing, thanks to tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Büchi, the founder of Sang Bleu, this latest timepiece is in well, surprise, surprise, the colour blue, most prominently on the watch’s dial and straps, just like the ink used by the tattoo studio which it is named after.
The work of Maxime Plescia-Büchi assumes its full symbolic significance in this piece, with the new editions bearing the colours of Sang Bleu. This transposition of his geometric art, almost architectural in its structure, onto a watch illustrates the very best of the Art of Fusion ~ Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO ~
On the dial, you’d find a geometric motif, that, to me, almost resembles a large wind rose, with 2 smaller ones on diagonal sides of the large one in the centre, with a matching hexagonal geometric case. Powered with the HUB124o automatic chronograph, the 45mm timepiece is available in either titanium or King Gold, with or without stone settings, and limited to 200 pieces and 100 pieces globally, respectively.
