Watches Wednesday: GRAHAM Chronofighter Superlight Carbon
Swiss watchmakers GRAHAM are back with their signature Chronofighter Superlight Carbon timepiece, but this time, in 3 new fluorescent colours: orange, which symbolises anticipation; green, which represents action, and purple, an assertion of confidence.
This 47mm racing watch comes with a Superlight black carbon composite case, with a total weight of less than 100 grams each. And since motorsports is ingrained in the Maison’s DNA, the manufacture sought further inspiration from the dynamic coloured Formula One tyres. After all, they were once sponsors for the Brawn GP Formula One team from 2009 to 2011.
These colourful rubber straps, which come with the Clous de Paris pattern, are also weather independent which means that you won’t find it getting sticky in humid climates. The case, trigger, bezel, dial and buckle are made with the same super light carbon that you find in materials used to construct Formula One cars.
Since I’m a huge fan of chunky watches, this is certainly up my alley. And, since ya’ll already know my penchant for vivid colours, this makes it all the more appealing in my books. I’d definitely opt for the purple, or the blue. Oh, and the other thing I like about the Chronofighter is its trigger, which struck me as reminiscent of the triggers you typically see on grenades. Well, I don’t know if they’re called triggers on grenades, but you know that mechanism that I’m talking about, yea?
