Watches Wednesday: Franck Muller’s Limited Edition Vanguard Encrypto
Crypto fans and investors, listen up! Franck Muller has created the Limited Edition Vanguard Encrypto, the world’s first functional Bitcoin Watch, developed in collaboration with cryptocurrency trading platform Regal Assets! Piqued your curiosity there, didn’t we?
Nope, it’s not an NFT or anything like that. Instead, it’s a fully functional (and IRL physical!) watch with a laser-etched QR code at 12 o’clock on the dial which links to your public wallet address that can be used to deposit Bitcoins and check the balance of the account by just simply using your mobile phone. And, to ensure that the process is secure each watch comes with a sealed USB stick for you to store the private key. Yep, you read that right!
Apart from the laser-etched QR code at 12 o’clock, the other thing that these Vanguard Encrypto models have in common is the Bitcoin logo right at the centre of the dial, as well as a circular date window at 6 o’clock. The Vanguard Encrypto utilises offline generated, non-deterministic TRNGs (True Random Numbers Generated) paper wallet style storage – one of the preferred methods among long term bitcoin holders and early adopters due to its ultra security.
Available in 7 iterations — stainless steel, Rose Gold, Titanium, and Carbon (with or without diamonds) with a hand-sewn alligator strap with rubber on the other side of the folding buckle. There’s also the 100-piece Limited Edition Satoshi Nakamoto Vanguard Encrypto in carbon fibre, its winding crown, numerals, and Bitcoin motif on the dial, in bright yellow (shown below) .
Oh, and because this is a crypto watch, the Vanguard Encrypto can also be purchased by Bitcoin, or directly from the dedicated microsite . Prices range from CHF13,000 to 29,900.
