Watches Wednesday: Bell & Ross BR05 Skeleton Blue Limited Edition
In 2019, Bell & Ross launched the BR05, a timepiece for urban explorers with an integrated bracelet that fuses with the case to create a seamless whole. This year, in commemoration of its first anniversary of the debut of the BR05, the Maison introduces the BR05 Skeleton Blue.
Powered with the BR-CAL.322 automatic mechanical calibre wound by a 360-degree blue coated oscillating weight, this 40mm skeleton timepiece, like its original predecessor, comes with a satin-finished angular case with a perfectly flat surface, with the arch of the curve meticulously designed to ensure comfort when worn. Unlike most skeleton wristwatches which showcase the mechanism in an obvious manner, what Bell & Ross has done, is to add a blue-tinted transparent dial that forms a clear window over the skeleton, sort of tricking the eye into wondering, “is it a skeleton, or isn’t it?… But is it really??!?” , thus making it extremely unique in comparison to other skeleton watches. And, as with all Bell & Ross watches, the Super-Luminova®-filled hands and appliqué indices ensure that you can tell the time in the dark. Turn the watch on its reverse side, and you’ll also notice the brand’s logo metabolised onto the sapphire caseback.
Available in either a satin-polished steel bracelet (MYR 31,000), or a ribbed blue rubber strap (MYR 28,500, which I personally prefer because the matching strap really brings out the blue dial!), the BR05 Skeleton Blue is a Limited Edition, with just 500 of these made available globally.
