Last year, Audemars Piguet introduced the Code 11.59. This year, the Maison expands its offerings with 5 new  Selfwinding Chronograph.  These new additions come with a smoked lacquered dials with a sunburst pattern in blue, burgundy, purple, light grey, and dark grey, with a complex double curved glare proofed sapphire crystal glass on its extra-thin bezel with an octagonal middle case. Upon first glance, the watch has a highly polished surface. But, take a closer look, and you’d see a satin-brushed middle case sandwiched in between its polished exterior.

And, while we’re on the subject of its cases, there are 2 variations: the coloured models come either in 18-carat pink gold, or white gold; or, the 2 grey versions that are fitted with what seems to be the Maison’s theme for this year as we saw with the 34mm Selfwinding Royal Oak and the Limited Edition (Re)Master01, two-toned gold cases, with an 18-carat pink gold middle case between the 18-carat white gold bezel and caseback with a pink gold oscillating weight. To match the contrasting the middle case, the timepiece also comes with pink gold hour markers, hands, and counter threads.

The Code 11.59 Selfwinding Chronograph is powered by the calibre 4401, an integrated chronograph with column wheel and flyback function, that allows the wearer to restart the chronograph function, without stopping to reset it. This complication rises to the challenge, with a patented zero resetting mechanism, to ensure that each of its counter hands are seamlessly reset to zero. Its vertical clutch system also prevents its hands from jumping or jerking when the chronograph is started or stopped, which is itself no easy technical feat.

At 41mm, it makes it also perfect for not just men, but also women who love a slightly more masculine-looking timepiece which she can either get for herself, or steal from her significant other. Personally, we’re huge fans of larger wristwatches, and we’d even go up to 45mm, so this Code 11.59 Selfwinding Chronograph right here is quite a nice size for women. 😉 As for the colours, we’re huge fans of the blue, and the dark grey because the pink gold is juxtaposed perfectly against the intensity of the colours.
