Watches Wednesday: Audemars Piguet Introduces 34mm Royal Oak Selfwinding Models

Audemars Piguet has introduced the Royal Oak Selfwindingpowered with the new selfwinding calibre 5800, in a smaller 34mm size, for smaller wrists. Yep, but wait a minute, you’re probably thinking that there already is a version in 33mm Quartz model, with a teensy 1mm difference, but this is in no way a replacement. Instead, the new 34mm model is a new addition to the Royal Oak line, and will coexist together with its Quartz counterpart.

Available in 4 references in stainless steel and/or 18-carat pink gold;  all of which come with the iconic Grande Tapisserie dial in either silver or blue-grey. Both the steel blue-grey and pink gold models come with a diamond-set bezel. The Maison also continues with its combination of golds for a two-toned effect –  as with the Maison’s latest combination of golds like the Limited Edition (Re)Master01 and the latest version of the Code 11:59 – and debuts a version of the 34mm Royal Oak Selfwinding that comes with a stainless steel case and bracelet, with an 18-carat pink gold bezel and bracelet links and silver Grande Tapisserie dial.

As for us, our pick is always the one with the the blue Grande Tapisserie dial, but we really love where the brand is revitalising their models with the two-toned vibe – who says mixing metals are taboo?! 😉
