SIHH To Be Held In April From 2020-2024

2019 marks the last year that the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) will be held in January. From next year onwards right up to 2024, the Richemont-dominated SIHH will be held from April 26-29 in Geneva, right before Baselworld, from 30 April to May 5, in Basel. This means that both of the two most important luxury timepieces trade fairs will be held back-to-back, just like Fashion Week, or rather, Fashion Month, in the 4 major fashion capitals. This certainly makes things easier for editors, retailers, and watch connoisseurs, instead of flying to Switzerland twice in the span of 3 months.

This is certainly a huge shake up in the world of timepieces, and perhaps it could be said that it’s a return to how things were before. After all, when SIHH made its debut in 1990, it was also held in April. It wasn’t until a couple of years later that it was moved to January, and pretty much stayed this way ever since.

And while we’re on the subject of watch trade fairs, Baselworld’s largest exhibitor, The Swatch Group, is also said to have pulled out and will not be exhibiting their 16 brands at Baselworld 2019.
