Event Post: Jaeger-LeCoultre SIHH 2015 Astral Collection Unveiling

On Tuesday, I attended the Jaeger-LeCoultre event at their Star Hill Gallery boutique. It was a rather special evening and a privilege because it was the first time ever, that JLC had brought in the pieces that were exhibited at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie – a watch tradeshow event held annually in January.

While waiting for the presentation to begin, I browsed through the store and mingled with the others. Seeing me with a Cartier (whoops! =P) JLC’s Country Manager Reena Tan asked me to pick one out to try on, and when I did, after much hesitation, she said “wow! She just had to pick the most expensive one in the case!”. If you’re wondering which I picked, it’s the 2nd one from the right with the glazed croc strap in the photo below and it costs a whopping RM300k++, which you’d have seen on my wrist in my Instagram feed.

At 8:15pm, we were then told to take our seats on the Kartell chairs by Philippe Starck because the unveiling of the latest Astral Collection that was presented at SIHH 2015 was about to begin. And, with the tinkling of a fork on an empty champagne glass, the presentation began. A welcome note by Jaeger-LeCoultre Regional Managing Director Alexis DeLaporte, where we were taken not only through JLC’s history and brand DNA, the inspiration and design philosophy behind the Astral Collection, followed by an introduction of each piece from the collection.
