Christmas Gift Ideas #3: The SLGs Edition

As promised, Part 3 of our Christmas Gifting Guide is all about SLGs – Whether it’s WOCs (Wallet on Chains), card cases, wallets, or key fobs-cum bag charms, we’ve got you covered!

Bottega Veneta Leather Key Chains Bag Charms Animals

First up, I just had to include these Bottega Veneta key chains which can double as bag charms because they’re absolutely adorable. A mix of leather along with the House’s iconic woven intrecciato motif on the animals’ bodies, it’s something that’s classically Bottega through and through. And fine, yep, busted. I included these primarily because of that flamingo one right here, but if you’re not flamingo-obsessed like me, then the other animals make quite cute unisex gifts too! *winks*

Fendi FendiRama Wallet On Chain White

The Holiday Season is also known as party season. And, with the sheer amount of parties and get-togethers that you may be attending, a Wallet on Chain (WOC) is the best type of bag to take with you during these occasions. It’s also great for errand runs and times when you don’t want to be carrying much in your purse except the essentials. Often equipped with built-in card slots on its interior, along with compartments for your lipstick, phone, keys, you’d have your hands free for whatever you’d like to do, including partying and dancing into the wee hours, or having your hands free for drinks and food. And, since logos are all the rage right now, we’ve included this WOC from Fendi‘s Holiday Capsule Collection, FENDIRAMA, which is all about the embossed FF logo taking centerstage.

Prada Pradamalia SLGsUp next, are these Pradamalia duo of Saffiano leather pouches, from Prada‘s Holiday Capsule, complete with the latest characters from the collection that were conceived in the Prada labs – “Socks” (dog) and “Otto/Toto” (monkey). The great thing about this is its functionality and versatility: dangle them on the outside of your bag for quick access to coins or parking ticket tokens, and at time, they also double up as charms that prettify your bags. Alternatively, you can even detach them and use them one at a time as loose pockets, if you feel like leaving the other one at home, or even for another bag. My pick would definitely be the pink one with the envelope-styled front pouch, and of course, the fact that it’s pink is a bonus!

Balenciaga Mini Papier Wallet Rose Magenta

When it comes to small, compact wallets, I know how difficult it is to find the perfect one. And, because of this arduous process, coupled with the fact that mini bags are super on trend right now, many of us have resorted to using card holders or money clips instead because we weren’t able to find anything that we liked, particularly for those who aren’t fans of mini zip-around wallets or French purses. Though I don’t own a money clip, I myself am one of these people, who’ve sometimes stuffed dollar bills into card holders and though convenient, they don’t exactly look great with the bills sticking out. Call it OCD, if you will. Well, I don’t know about you, but I found the solution to this very problem, thanks to Balenciaga‘s Papier Mini Wallet. Though it looks almost the same size as a card holder, it certainly fits waaaay more, plus, with the slim trifold style, you’d get to stash your bills (yep including the 100 dollar ones!) without them having to stick out, plus, with the exterior envelope flap on the front allows you to keep your loose change and/or cards in, as well! This shade of pink (what Balenciaga calls “Rose Magenta”) is my favourite, but if it isn’t your kinda colour, it comes in 10 other hues as well, not to mention, a variety of leathers, from grained to smooth calf, and even metallic!

Chanel Card Holder Beige Black Caviar

With all this talk of card holders, naturally, we had to feature one, too! This Chanel card holder in black-and-beige Caviar leather is our pick because we hardly ever see bi-colour versions from the brand. Personally, I prefer card holders that come with a flap and button closure, with a larger central compartment and just one front slot for your card. Card holders in this style, for me, are usually more for credit cards instead of business cards because the slots are just way too narrow. As someone who never uses the card slots in my wallet because I hate it when the imprint of the cards show on the leather (yep OCD much?), I always have to carry a separate card holder for my store cards and/or credit cards so, I’d get it in this style. That said, I do know people who are perfectly okay with using these for their business cards which are usually stashed in the top middle slit – either way is perfectly okay. After all, it’s a matter of personal preference 😉
