Toosday Shoesday: Gucci’s Velvet Loafer With Bee and Pearl Embellishments
I’ve been on the hunt for a decent pair of loafers for the past 2 years, and never managed to find one that I actually liked. They were either too uncomfortable, or they looked plain ordinary. In short, nothing caught my eye. Finally, two whole years later, I finally stumbled upon something that wasn’t just passable, but a pair of loafers that I actually LOVE, mainly because of everything that’s going on in front of the shoes.
I’m not a fan of all the animals and reptiles in Alessandro Michele’s version of Eden that he created for Gucci, because frankly they freak me out, and while the bee looked somewhat frightening on the Dionysus and Sylvie bags, it looks so regal right here with its pearlescent body amidst all the pearls, which, I imagine, arranged in such a manner, that it actually resembles a flower. The rhinestone details between each “petal” too, make for a nice touch. In fact, the entire thing looks like an intricate brooch sitting prettily atop a grosgrain ribbon. Perhaps the only thing I’m not so crazy about, is that it’s made of velvet (I don’t know why, but ever since I was a wee child, I never liked the fabric). But then again, I just might let that go, because this pair of loafers is too pretty to resist. Plus, they’re pretty darn close to perfect in my books, especially after having to wait for 2 years for a loafer as special as this to come by. Come to mama!
P.S. If you love it as much as I do, there’s only 1 pair left in each size, right here
