Toosday Shoesday: Ferragamo’s Rainbow and Scarf-Printed Varina Flats

2018 marks the 80th Anniversary of Salvatore Ferragamo‘s iconic Rainbow wedge sandal designed in 1838 for Judy Garland. To commemorate the occasion, the House has designed a Rainbow collection inspired by the original sandal for the Holiday season. In today’s edition of Toosday Shoesday, we take a closer look at the Rainbow Varina flat, which is a marriage of both the Rainbow, and the Vara bow, originally designed in 1978 by Flamma Ferragamo, eldest daughter to founder Salvatore and Wanda – the most recognisable House Code to date.

Salvatore Ferragamo Vara Varina Holiday Exclusive Scarf Printed

The Holiday edition of this Varina flat, comes in technicolour rainbow stripes printed on calfskin leather. And, as for the signature grosgrain bow,  guess what? It’s also all striped out in rainbow glory! If you aren’t a fan of the Rainbow, however, it also comes in solids colours like blue, or red lipstick velvet. Or, if you’re feeling a little bit bolder, you can opt for a printed version (also available in the Vara block heel version), specifically one taken from an archival 1990s silk scarf print, also part of the Rainbow Holiday exclusive.
