Moschino x Spongebob For RED Capsule Collection

If you watched Moschino’s recent Spring/Summer 2018 Menswear and Women’s Resort 2018 collection show,  you’d have noticed that Spongebob Squarepants made it back onto the Moschino runway. But then again, most of us were probably unfazed when we saw him along with Olive Oyle and Betty Boop coming down the runway, because after all, we’ve seen many a cartoon character grace Jeremy Scott’s Moschino runways including one of my all-time favourites, the Powerpuff Girls.

But guess what, there’s actually a reason why everyone’s fun-loving character who lives in a pineapple under the sea, is back. This incarnation of a slightly rabid Spongebob, seemingly being consumed by flames, is actually part of a Spongebob x Moschino x RED Capsule Collection.

There will be a total of 16 items in the capsule collection, including apparel, accessories, swimwear, and handbags, for men, women, and children.  All of Nickolodeon’s proceeds from the sale of the Spongebob capsule collection will be going to the RED Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

No more further photos of the collab were made available, but Creative Director Jeremy Scott told WWD that he

“wanted to play with the idea of [the character] and the flames from the Hot Rods – as well as turning him into a body builder muscleman archetype for some other styles. Another has him flexing as he’s popping out of a cutout with the Moschino logo above him”

The collection is slated to drop in November, with prices ranging from USD250 to $480.

I’m actually quite excited for this, what about you?
