Men’s Fashion Week: Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2013 Bags

Since I’ve had numerous requests asking me to feature men’s bags instead of just women’s bags, I thought that now, more so than ever, will be the perfect time to do so since it’s Men’s Fashion Week! While I featured Burberry’ Prorsum’s Men’s Autumn/Winter 2013 bags, that’s because they could also work as women’s bags. But this time around, here are some bags purely for men! 😉 And the men’s bags  extravaganza kicks off with Bottega Veneta’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection.

The Verdict: As with all Bottega Veneta Runway bags, regardless of whether it’s women’s or men’s bags, exotic skins (particularly croc) rule the runways. Creative Director Tomas Maier seems to be focussing on work bags for men for the Fall/Winter 2013 season. As Maier says, “It is a serious moment, a time when work feels like a clear priority … The challenge, of course, is to address the complexity and speed of today’s world, and the individuality of our customer … No fuss, no gimmicks, but a richness that reflects the world we all work in.”

With that design aesthetic in mind, Maier presents us with uber-luxe crocodile skin totes for carrying your laptop and documents, briefcase-like top-handle bags, and even larger (oversized even!) ones that were clearly intended for the travelling businessman who’s always on-the-go. For day use, it’s back to basics with leather totes, that are, again, as we saw on the Burberry Men’s AW13 runway. After all, 2013 is dubbed as the year where smaller bags are to take centrestage. Perhaps, the men’s collections are also following suit?
