Van Cleef & Arpels: New Additions to the Frivole Collection
This week, Van Cleef & Arpels will be debuting 9 brand new additions in yellow gold to the Frivole (translation: “Frivolous”) collection. The distinctive characteristic of the pieces in this collection is the heart-shaped petals on the floral bouquet motifs, that creates a three-dimensional effect.
Inspired by the central motif of the 8-flower Frivole ring, these new pieces include a 3-flower pendant and earrings, a transformable pendant, and the mini model creations comprising a pendant, earrings, 1-flower ring, and bracelet, in 18 karat yellow gold, with diamonds.
First introduced in 2017, these mini models are accentuated using the openwork technique – the gold structure is strategically pierced in a manner which allows light to pass through the diamonds so that the diamonds are able to sparkle even more brilliantly. So yes, even if these mini models are considerably tiny, they aren’t any less shimmery.
My favourite of all the new additions to the Frivole, however, has to be this transformable pendant. After all, this really doesn’t come as a surprise because VCA is no stranger to “transformable jewels”, where its “secret watches”, and the extensive Le Secret high jewellery collection with concealed mechanisms, that was launched in 2017.
This Frivole flower is a pendant that has the ability to morph into a clip. As such, it is referred to as a “clip pendant”, which emphasises the Maison’s traditional mirror polishing technique which transforms the 18-karat gold into a surface that creates intense reflections.
These new pieces will be dropping this Wednesday, March 21.
