Van Cleef & Arpels Launches the 2019 Edition of the Alhambra Guilloché

The Alhambra has very much been a part of Van Cleef & Arpels‘s DNA ever since it was first launched in 1968. Known as the Maison’s “lucky charm”, VCA first introduced the Guilloché technique on yellow gold, in late-2018 for the Alhambra’s 50th Anniversary. Previously only reserved for its timepieces and precious objects, the guilloché technique was used on watch dials and power compacts as well as Minaudières. On the Alhambra, used to create a pattern reminiscent of the sun’s rays to create the illusion of these lucky clovers doing a tantalising dance when light hits its surface.

Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra Guilloche Necklace and Bracelet 2019

The new 2019 edition of the Alhambra Guilloché comprises a long necklace, pendant, and 5-motif bracelet. On both the long necklace and bracelet, the clovers alternate between guilloché versions with a gold bead at its centre, and diamond-paved motifs. The single pendant, on the other hand, stays true to the original, with just a single motif guilloché clover, with a central bead.

However, if timepieces are something that you’re looking for, VCA has also introduced 2 new timepieces to their Sweet Alhambra collection. The first is a simple Alhambra Guilloché dial, with a thin alligator strap which can be easily interchangeable, should you want to switch things up to go with your outfits. Elegant enough as a dress watch, this new darling could easily take you from day-to-night in an instant.

Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra Guilloche Jewellery Watch

But, my absolute fave out of this year’s additions to the Alhambra Guilloché range, is this Sweet Alhambra jewellery watch, made of gold, diamonds, and gold mother-of-pearl. Keeping with the spirit of the Sweet Alhambra, the clover motifs are of a larger size, in comparison to the Vintage Alhambra. And, since I’m a huge fan of chunky rather than dainty jewellery, I’d wear this watch daily, as a bracelet, instead of saving it for just evening-appropriate events and galas.
