Cartier Debuts “Clash De Cartier” Jewellery Collection
Cartier has just debuted a brand new jewellery collection, the Clash de Cartier, said to be an expression of duality, dynamic tension, a match of opposites; a “clash” of attitudes. Now, if you’re expecting the ladylike timeless elegance that you’ve become accustomed to seeing at Cartier, this is something bolder, edgier, and more daring. While somewhat of a pleasant surprise, if we think about it, perhaps the Maison was actually preparing us for this moment with Juste un Clou and subsequently, Ecrou, paving the way for the Clash that was to come.
Taking inspiration from the studs, beads, and clous carrés elements from the Maison’s jewellery collections, this new collection features spikes and studs (sometimes with diamonds and beads as stud substitutes) that form a ribbed mesh. Clash de Cartier oozes attitude and sass, yet still refined and ladylike because it isn’t overly chunky. Its supple, movable “spikes” are so soft to the touch and somewhat movable that it couldn’t hurt even a single hair on your body – #truestory because I got to play with it in person, and try on the pieces while at the same time checking out the SIHH 2019 novelties (but more on that in the near future). As someone who lovessss studs, it’s no surprise that this is a new favourite collection of mine. I especially love the gold ring, and the necklace, with the diamond studs.

Here’s my favourite piece up close, followed by the movie staring Kaia Scodelario, the face of Clash de Cartier
