Your Complete Hermès Birkin, Picotin, and Toolbox Size Guide

Hermès Picotin Bags Size Guide Illustration

First introduced in 2002, the Hermès Picotin is darling little bucket-styled bag inspired by the Maison’s equestrian heritage, particularly the feed bags that were hooked over horses ears from which they ate. Lined in natural raw hide interior lining, this cutie comes with a clochette on its front, while the main compartment can be accessed by loosening the leather strip from which the lock dangles. The Picotin comes in 4 sizes:

Hermès Picotin Lock PM 13 cm 13 x 18 x 18 cm
Hermès Picotin Lock MM 22cm 22 x 23 x 18 cm
Hermès Picotin Lock GM 26 cm 26.7 x 26.7 x 22 cm
Hermès Picotin Lock TGM 33 cm 33 x 33 x 23 cm

Ah, the Birkin. THE most sought after bag… a Holy Grail bag for many, if you will. Deriving its name from the actress  Jane Birkin to whom it was originally gifted in 1984, the Birkin is especially hard to get your hands on, and not just because of the price tag that comes along with it, but because it’s produced in extremely limited quantities. The bag also requires 18 hours to complete, and a single artisan at the atelier makes each bag by hand from start to finish. Birkins are timeless, and are often passed down from one generation to the next, as heirlooms. In fact, these are the only bags may be considered as investment pieces, because their prices escalate, even when sold off as vintage. They are available in 4 sizes, and come in a myriad of leathers, exotic skins, and even custom versions (known as “Special Orders”)  in any colour variation or colour combinations your heart desires.

Birkin 25  25 cm 25 x 20 x 13 cm
Birkin 30 3o cm 30 x 22 x 16 cm
Birkin 35 35 cm 35 x 25 x 18 cm
Birkin 40 40 cm 40 x 30 x 21 cm

Hermès Toolbox Bags Size Guide Illustration

The Hermès Toolbox is one of my favourite H bags. Perhaps it isn’t as popular as the other bags in this guide right here, but I just find the cube-shaped top handle bag super cute, especially in the smaller size. This cutie made its debut in the Fall/Winter 2010 collection, its distinctive feature is of course its silhouette, along with the turnlock closure, like the one on the Kelly. It comes with a removable thick shoulder strap, and is super roomy, much like, well, a toolbox, but certainly a more extravagant and luxurious version. The Toolbox is available in 3 sizes (though we hardly ever see it in the larger size because it’s much more suitable for either men, or travel)

Toolbox 20 20 cm 20 x 21 x 15 cm
Toolbox 26 26 cm 26 x 25 x 18 cm
Toolbox 33 33 cm 33 x 37 x 23 cm

And that’s it for Part 1 of our Hermès Bags sizes guide. Stay tuned for Part 2, featuring the Kelly, Lindy, and Garden Party bags!
