Your Complete Guide to Hermès Clutches: Egee, Jige, and Medor

You’ve seen our guide to Hermès Kelly Family Clutches, now here’s a look at the other H clutches, as promised!

Jige Clutch

Hermes Jige Clutch with Lizard Trims and Clasp

The story of the Jige began when Jean Guerrand (son-in-law of Émilie Hermès) presented this clutch to his future daughters-in-law. The Jige is a flat, envelope-styled clutch with a flap top that’s secured by sliding the leather strip into the H on its front. Not only is it instantly recognisable, but it’s also relatively easier to score than other Hermès clutches (except for the exotic leather versions). But, because it’s so flat, you might not want to stuff it so much, because packing too much into it will ruin its slim and streamlined silhouette. What’s great about the Jige is that it can either be dressed down, or dressed up, making it super easy to transition from day to night. It comes in a huge assortment of colours and neutrals, but our favourites are the ones that come in Swift leather, with a lizard closure and trims. It comes in 3 different sizes – mini, which doubles as a wallet, with a detachable shoulder strap, PM, and GM – as well as the Elan, which has a more rectangular shape compared to the more squarish non-Elan versions.

Jige Mini Clutch 20 x 12 cm
Jige PM 29 x 20 x 3 cm
Jige GM 34 x 26 x 3 cm
Jige Elan 29 29 x 15 x 3 cm
Jige Elan 35 35 x 15 x 3 cm

Egee Clutch

Hermes Egee Clutch

Introduced in 2011, the Egee is slightly structured, and cylindrical in shape, with an oval-ish side profile. The flap-top clutch’s distinguishing element is its bold, double-linked Chaine d’andre style clasp. Due to its shape, it would be more comfortable handheld or in the crook of your arm, instead of under the arm. Available in an array of leathers and exotic skins, the clutch, unlike the Jige, comes in one size only.

Dimensions: 25 x 10.5 x 4 cm

Medor Clutch

Hermes Alligator Medor Clutch

Ah, the Medor clutch is our favourite H clutch. It, too, is structured with an oval-is side profile, and is cylindrical in shape like the Egee, but the difference is that it comes with the Collier de Chien clasp. Available in either exotic leathers and several leathers including box leather, and Chèvre. The Medor used to come in 2 sizes, but the larger size 29 has been discontinued for quite a number of years now.
