Miu Miu collaborated with Venice Days to organise a three-day film festival promoting avant-garde cinema on August 30 at Lido’s Sala Darsena. The brand kicked-off the event by screening the 4th chapter of their “Women’s Tales”, which is a series of short films by leading female directors.

Entitled “It’s Getting Late, and directed and written by Iranian-American Massy Tadjedin, this chapter interweaves the stories of 4 women – Aubrey Plaza, Gemma Arterton, Patricia Clarkson and Rinko Kukuchi –  as they get ready for their night out in Hollywood to watch a performance of songstress Zola Jesus.

“We make our faces, our suits, our selves just a little more ready for wherever it is we’re going. Fashion is never just the clothes. It’s our mood, our excitement for something, our expectations, our attitudes, our outlooks. Managing those is often what getting ready is all about and that’s what our short tries to capture.” Massy Tadjedin

If you’ve missed the others, Here they are, in order.

Chapter 1: The Powder Room, a story of opulence and glamour by Zoe Cassavetes

Chapter 2: Muta, a film noir featuring fashion mutants Lucrecia Martel

Chapter 3: The Woman Dress, by Giada Colagrande, which I found to be of Shakespearean Macbeth proportions.
