Valentino’s Virtual Museum

Earlier this week, retired designer and couturier Valentino Garavani launched a 3D Virtual Museum at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). This is the first ever virtual museum (for fashion), with its launching being livestreamed on YouTube with Anne Hathaway as the host for the evening. Italian Vogue‘s Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani was also present at  the event.

The virtual museum is a collaboration between Valentino and his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti solicited the help of Google Art Projects who have had plenty of experience creating virtual museums for MoMA, Tate Gallery, as well as the Palace of Versailles.

Below, a video of the press conference on the Virtual Museum.

For those of you who have missed the livestreamed launch of the Valentino Museum, you can download the FREE app (for both Mac and PC) which gains you access into this wonderful 3D virtual museum. Like any museum, there are different “rooms” which you can access simply by moving your mouse. There is an archive of all Valentino creations, including a video of the man himself explaining in-depth the work that goes into each of his designs, with a 360 degree view of each of the dresses, including the celebrities for whom it was designed for. “Masterclasses” with fashion critics is also a noteworthy feature in this app.

Download the free Valentino Virtual Museum app Here and be prepared for a very fashionable journey via your computer screen and the click of your mouse.
