Newsflash: New York Fashion Week & London Fashion Week Dates Up To 2014!
After the Fashion Week scheduling shenanigans revolving around Milan last season that caused an uproar, New York and London have come up with their schedules for the next 5 seasons right up to 2014! It is, perhaps an effort to avoid the whole Milan scenario again, which basically forced both NY and London to push their fashion week dates earlier to accommodate the Italian fashion capital which was adamant on hosting MFW a week early for the FW 2012-13 shows.
Being the first 2 fashion cities to hold fashion week on the calendar, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the British Fashion Council (BFC) put in a joint effort to ensure the smooth running of the schedule after last season.
Here are the dates:
S/S 2013 shows to be held in September 2012
New York Fashion Week: September 6 – 13
London Fashion Week: September 14 – 18
F/W 2013-14 shows toto be held in February 2013
New York Fashion Week: February 7 – 14
London Fashion Week: February 15 – 19
S/S 2014 shows to be held in September 2014
New York Fashion Week: September 5 – 12
London Fashion Week: September 13 – 17
F/W 2014-15 shows to be held in February 2014
New York Fashion Week: February 6 – 13
London Fashion Week: February 14 – 18
S/S 2015 shows to be held in September 2014
New York Fashion Week: September 4 – 11
London Fashion Week: September 12 – 16, 2014
So there you have it. I wonder if there will be more funny business coming from Milan because now that the dates are set, it looks as if London and New York are pretty firm about not giving in to the Italian fashion capital anymore.
