Chanel’s Paris-Édimbourg Métiers d’Art 2012-13 was recently held on December 2nd 2012 at Linlithgow Palace (home of Mary Queen of Scots) in Edinburgh, Scotland. And since the show was held at Mary’s home, it was only right that the show had looks inspired by the Queen herself. Pay attention to the feathered detail collars similar to the monarch’s costumes from that period. The collection was of course a tribute to the Scottish heritage, so it is no surprise that tartan was aplenty on the runway. The cashmeres in the collection was also hand-stitched by Barrie Knitwear in Hatwick, a tiny factory situated in the Scottish Highlands. In fact, it was Chanel’s purchase of Barrie Knitwear which stopped them from going under and closing in August this year. set to close in August this year. Chanel has made it their mission to save traditional fashion craftsmanship throughout the world, and this is their latest acquisition to date.
