Dior Autumn/Winter 16 Couture Report
Dior took us back to basics for the Autumn/Winter 16 Haute Couture collection. Made up of an entirely minimalistic black-and-white colour palette (but not forgetting the beading and sequins of course!), the iconic Bar jacket served as the foundation for the collection, be it on the full skirts or the signature hourglass silhouette, its influence was noticeable. Unlike the common misconception, the collection has definitely proven that Couture needn’t always have to be OTT.
And speaking of basics, the show space for the collection presentation took us back to where it all began, at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, where the Dior Atelier is based, up until today – this would certainly be a place that would be familiar to you, especially if you’ve watched the Dior and I documentary. The venue was transformed into an entirely white space, against a gilded gold backdrop, which oozed affluence, tasteful elegance, and luxury.
