Gucci Cruise 2016 Runway Report

Gucci recently held the Cruise 2016 show at the end of last week in New York City, where models emerged from  a garage across the street and walked straight into the show space to showcase Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s second collection for the brand. To ensure that everything ran seamlessly, the entire West 22nd Street was closed. From chevron and berets to florals and pleats, the Cruise 2016 collection was filled with iconic elements from yesteryear, and it felt rather like we were given a lesson in fashion history, taking us from the 60s right through to the 70s. It seems as though the entire fashion world is obsessed with all things retro these days. Could this be a trickle-up effect of fashion from the streets, particularly hipsterism?
