#PFW: Loewe Spring/Summer 19 Runway & Bags Report

Though I’m not usually a fan of Jonathan Anderson‘s designs because they tend to be deconstructed and oversized but he seemed to pare that down for Loewe‘s Spring/Summer 19 collection. I guess this is probably why I actually found a couple of pieces that I not just liked, but would actually wear. The collection was kinda hard to pinpoint, as it was a hodgepodge of satin, stripes, fur, colour blocking, and chunky cable knitted sweaters.

The bags, on the other hand are inspired primarily by baskets and weaving. Whether, in leather, crocheted raffia, fringed leather, or rattan, they all either utilised the basket weave, or took the shape of a basket. The floral crocheted raffia one is similar to the crocheted blankets that my grandmother used to make, while the Gate bag is also comes in a basket weave with leather combo for SS19. However, there was one particular leather bag that caught my attention, because it resembled one of those decorative luxe-looking leather baskets (the one in white, with a brown buckled-handle below) that we sometimes see in living rooms, where magazines or newspapers are stashed. Surprisingly, though, there were no bags in Loewe’s signature Oro suede on the runway this time. Oh, and I thought that the coin purse that could be worn on the wrist is a rather handy thing to have!

The Verdict: Loved some of the looks, especially the striped ones, and the white ones I’ve included above, but as for the bags, they’re not really my kinda thang.
