#PFW: Hermès Spring/Summer 19 Runway & Bags Report

Hermès Creative Director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski changes things up for the Spring/Summer 19 collection. With a new show venue, this time at the Longchamp racecourse, comes a new, sportier Hermès woman. We saw parkas, bandeaus, jumpsuits, technical mesh, lace-up rope detailing, and even cut-out saddle shaped details on the clothes, which stays true to the Maison’s equestrian heritage. It was casual, and summery, yet sporty at the same time, yet, cleverly designed that the collection escaped the trappings of athleisure. My favourite pieces were the laser-cut grid trousers, skirts, and dresses. Oh, and I absolutely loved the flat multi-strap buckled sandals.

New bags for SS19 include an open top bucket bag called the Musardine, reminiscent of the actual buckets that stable boys used for horse feed, was the darling of the show. There was also a new large foldover tote known as the Double Sens, and another tote with an asymmetrical silhouette (Nouveau Sac A Main). Vanhee-Cybulski also brought back the Verrou bag which first made its runway debut in SS17, as well as the Her bag which now comes in Toile H Berlinea new material that has a top layer whichmakes it look like leather, but it’s actually woven fabric.
