Paris Fashion Week: Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2012 Bags
I’m sure the world has heard by now about the Balenciaga shenanigans during the Spring/Summer 2012 show: 5 of the benches had collapsed when invitees took their seats, so for safety precautions, everyone had to stand during the Balenciaga show, making it the first “standing show” in like, forever. Balenciaga shows usually get lots of press as it is, and I’m sure this incident would have garnered the brand even more press. But as optimists would say, all press is good press. Ok then, on with the collection….
The Verdict: Clean, simple, and minimalist. Everything seems to be fuss-free. Solid colours with little embellishment and details. Balenciaga is one of my favourite brands but what I really don’t get though is why the models are carrying the bags in such a manner. I mean, ok I get the concept of the clutches but what’s up with the carrying the sling bags and the shoulder bags as though their straps are broken? I mean, not only do they look awkward this way, but we can’t really take notice of the design of the bag now, can we, when everything’s all bunched up and lugged around in this way?
