#NYFW: Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2013 BAGS!
Michael Kors was yet another of the NYFW Spring/Summer 2013 shows that I managed to catch on livestream, and because it was at 10am EST (hence 10pm Malaysian time), it was one of the few shows that I didn’t have to wake up early in the morning just to catch.
The show kicked off 15 minutes late, but as soon as the first look came down the runway, I knew that it would be a collection I was going to LOVE. I’ve been obsessing over stripes for the longest time, and I was glad to see that it was the theme for Kors’s Spring/Summer 2013, but somehow the stripes at Tommy Hilfiger or Marc Jacobs SS13 really didn’t tickle my fancy. Another thing I’m a sucker for is bold colours, and that’s just what Kors did – his palette for SS13 comprised of red, green, and yellow, but never in any way resembled traffic lights. LOL. In sum, I’d say his SS13 collection would appeal to both the back-to-school cool and jet-setting crowds.
The Verdict: While I feel that Kors’s RTW for SS13 was actually made for me because I’d wear all of the looks in a heartbeat, I’m afraid I really can’t say the same about the bags. The top handle flap bags reminded me too much of Miu Miu’s Madras Top Handle bag, while Kors’s “It” bag for SS13, the “60s” with the mirrored metal plaques on each side, really reminds me of Gucci’s “Mirror” range of bags from 2007. Bottomline? LOVE the RTW, but a thumbs down for the bags. What are your thoughts?
