#MFW: Prada FW18 Runway & Bags Report

Prada’s FW18 runway show took place at the OMA-designed Fondazione Prada complex in Milan. The tower is not nearly quite complete yet, but nonetheless provided a picturesque view of the city’s skyline. Entitled Nocturne, the showspace was decked out with PRADA neon signs such as a flaming heel, a monkey, a stegosaurus, an alien, a spider, and a trio of bananas. A common denominator between all of them was definitely the triangle, reminiscent of Prada’s signature triangular logo.

These neon signs that decorated the glass panels of the showspace certainly worked to foreshadow the collection that we were about to see. Digital prints and neon was the order of the day. From drawstring nylon “leg warmers” and utilitarian outerwear, and tulle overlays on dresses to nametags pinned onto the clothing, almost the entire collection (save for some black pieces here and there), would’ve made Day Glo proud.

When it came to the handbags, several themes emerged. There were the classic Boston and bowler-shaped Prada silhouettes, but this time around, with a logo-less triangle in place of Prada’s signature logo. The monkey, stegosaurus, and alien that we see on the neon signs that flanked the show space, too, were spotted on these bags.

My favourites, though, were definitely the pieces with the aliens on them, as well as those fluorescent flat nylon pouches and mini bags. In fact, I can’t wait to get my hands on them, so please let Fall come already! It’s time’s like these that I wish there was the buy-now-see-now model in place so I can head on over to the store to get them, STAT!

The Verdict: Loving all the neon in this entire collection because, as you know, I love my brights and colour blocking!!
