#MFW: Gucci Spring/Summer 2013 BAGS!

Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2013 runway show was livestreamed right here on Bag Addicts Anonymous. After almost a 30 minute delay, a fuchsia trouser suit opened the show. According to Frida Giannini, she was going for the “Aristographic” look, and her colour palette for SS13, with a mix of cobalt blues, fuchsia, lemon yellow, turquoise and coral certainly tickled my fancy.

Though pant suits aren’t really at all my sort of thing, the graphic chrysanthemum prints were a breath of fresh air. Then came the bold statement necklaces. Ruffles, too, took centre stage on column dresses, whether on the sleeves, as neck details, or back details. Some have commented that the collection was rather minimalist this time around. I, on the other hand, beg to differ because I thought that the ruffle details billowing on the plain dress made them all look dreamy, and ethereal, even when they were strutting it out.  Think about it this way: with all the bright colours, statement necklaces and ruffles, it would’ve just been too much if anything else was thrown into the mix.

And now, here are the bags!

The Verdict:  I’d dub SS13 for Gucci as the “comeback of the horsebit” season because that seems to be the key detail on both the bags and shoes. It’s also safe to say that Gucci’s It bag of the season is the only bag that we saw coming down the runway – the shoulder strapped flap bag with the horsebit detail. along with the oversized pochette-like clutch from the same range. For the evening though, I don’t really like the transparent box clutch (last pic above) which I initially thought resembled an ice cube tray when I saw it come down the runway.
