Newsflash: Raf Simons Heads to Calvin Klein
After Raf Simons’s departure from Dior in October last year, it was a guessing game as to where he would be headed next. Well guess no further, because he has just been named the new Chief Creative Officer at Calvin Klein, just a few short months after Francisco Costa’s departure in April this year. The news broke on social media just a few hours ago, on the brand’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
As mentioned in the Instagram photo, Simons will be responsible for the creative direction of all Calvin Klein lines, including cK Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans, and Calvin Klein, along with the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections. Simons will also have creative control over all advertising and marketing campaigns (and yes that includes underwear and fragrance ones!), as well as diffusion lines and homeware.
Steve Shiffman, CEO of Calvin Klein Inc comments,
The arrival of Raf Simons as chief creative officer signifies a momentous new chapter for Calvin Klein … Not since Mr. Klein himself was at the company has it been led by one creative visionary, and I am confident that this decision will drive the Calvin Klein brand and have a significant impact on its future. Raf’s exceptional contributions have shaped and modernised fashion as we see it today and, under his direction, Calvin Klein will further solidify its position as a leading global lifestyle brand.
His debut collection for Calvin Klein would be for the Fall/Winter 2017 collection this February!
