Newsflash: Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia Are Oscar de la Renta’s New Creative Directors

If you haven’t yet heard, Peter Copping has since been dismissed from Oscar de la Renta, and Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim have just been appointed as the new Creative Directors. The duo are no strangers to ODLR: Kim worked with the late de la Renta for over a decade, and Garcia was the founder’s design assistant since 2009. These two left when Copping took over, and the husband-and-wife duo went out to form their own label, Monse (pronounced Mon-SAY), which became an instant celebrity hit, especially with Sarah Jessica Parker, Amal Clooney, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Jessica Chastain, Lupita Wyong’o, and Brie Larson. And all this success came less than a year after they had founded the label. Fast forward three fashion seasons later, and here they are back at ODLR, where they first started out as interns. The cycle is complete. We’re definitely in for exciting times ahead! Their debut collection for ODLR will be in February, for the FW17 collection.
