Kenzo x Tiger Beer x WWF Rare Stripes Collection

KENZOTiger Beer, and WWF have collaborated to launch Rare Stripes, a special fashion capsule collection in aid of endangered tigers. While partnerships between non-profit charity organisations and designer brands have become increasingly common, the addition of an alcoholic beverage company may at first seem like an unlikely trifecta … but only at first. Though it may be the second year of WWF’s partnership with Tiger Beer, it makes sense that KENZO got involved this time around, because after all, the partnership is for a series of clothing, and we all know that the tiger has become one of KENZO’s house codes in recent years.

For this collaboration, Creative Directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim selected 4 emerging artists to design a range 8 Limited Edition unisex offerings comprising tees, jackets, pullovers, and a hoodie – all of which were inspired by the real lives of extinct tigers: Sculptor Meryl Smith (USA), illustrator and pinrtmaker Julienne Tan (Cambodia), illustrator and designer Esther Goh (Singapore) and digital artist Sean Lean (Malaysia).

This Rare Stripes campaign is part of a larger initiative to raise awareness about the plight of these felines, which have officially become and endangered species. 7 years ago, there were only 2,500 tigers left in the wild globally. Today, there are 3,900, but Tiger Beer hopes to double this by 2022. And since this initiative is all about educating and raising awareness, you’d also find a QR code that comes with each garment which you can scan, to can learn more about the story of each of these actual tigers on which the design was inspired.

All proceeds from the sale of each Rare Stripes item will go towards WWF’s tiger conservation efforts. As for how you can score these Limited Edition goodies, they are available exclusively at Tokyo’s Ginza SIX
