Event Post: Dion Lee FW15 at Singapore Fashion Week
Australian designer Dion Lee was another one of the international talents who were flown in to showcase his Fall/Winter 15 collection at Singapore Fashion Week. I had the opportunity to attend the Fashion Talks series featuring the designer who was in conversation with Miroslava Duma (a.k.a. Mira Duma) on “The Power of Social Media on the Global Fashion Industry” at the La Salle College of the Arts on the morning of his runway show. Lee then showed his FW15 collection later that evening, on Thursday May 14th, and spotted in the front row, was fellow Australian blogger, Margaret Zhang.
One look at his FW15 collection, and you’d notice the thing that ties everything together: cut-outs and laser-cut details. The designer also utlised luxe materials like satins, with a black, white, and teal colour palette. What I love most about this collection is the architectural folds he created, including that fishtail skirt-bottom created with that oversized net-like pattern. With netted details being so malleable, it’s amazing how the fishtail was kept in shape the entire time. Kudos!!
