Instead of taking us to another exotic location for Chanel’s Cruise 2018 Collection, the runway show was staged at the usual Chanel seasonal collection venue during Fashion Week: The Grand Palais in Paris. Karl successfully brought Ancient Greece to Paris, and transported us there, thanks to the Hellenistic ruins, and the sandy runway on which the models walked.

Entitled La Modernite De L’Antiquite (“The Modernity of Antiquity”), Karl transformed the models into greek goddesses, with lots of draping, white, and headbands that were styled to look like Laurel wreaths traditionally worn by the Greeks, arm bands, and butterfly hair accessories. And of course, it goes without saying that there were plenty of Gladiators in an array of colours, with a chunky Greek column heel. And yes, surprise surprise, that, for me, was the highlight, instead of the bags! 😉
