The Michael Kors “Miranda” Tote

When I first caught a glimpse of the Miranda from Michael Kors’s main collection for the Pre-Fall 2013 season, I was intrigued. A boxy tote that was fastened by knotting the leather strips atop the bag, and the flared sides which have, these days, been christened as “wings”, it came in 2 sizes. Yes, those of you who know me (whether personally or through this blog) would know that I have a super soft spot for winged bags. And sure, while it certainly is versatile because if you push the sides inwards, you get a different silhouette altogether, I would never do such a thing (just like I’d never carry bags that come with handles, by their convertible cross-body strap).
Okay, I really am besotted with the Miranda. Ever since its introduction in the Pre-Fall collection, there have been many versions: solid coloured leather, studded, and even grommeted. Sure, having to knot the leather straps to fasten the top may seem rather fiddly, but there’s just something about this roomy tote that just hits the spot for me.

But last but not least, my favourite version of the Miranda was this one that was posted up on the Official @MichaelKors Instagram account, with croc trims. It’s priced at RM13,569 but isn’t available in Malaysia.
The verdict: Chic, check. Classy, check. Wings, check. What’s not to love?
