Shot by Steven Meisel, Prada’s latest Fall/Winter 2016 advertising campaign features 27 top models photographed against multiple artificial backgrounds.  In this way, it feels as if the models are stepping out from a two-dimensional image, into a three-dimensional reality.

The campaign stars models Roos Abels, Noemie Abigail, Vanessa Axente, Lexi Boling, Freja Beha Erichsen, Vittoria Ceretti, Yoon Young Bae, Sara Dijkink, Danielle Ellsworth, Paulina Frankowska, Amanda Googe, Caitie Greene, Ondria Hardin, Milla Jovovich, Lorena Maraschino, Amanda Murphy, Londone Myers, Julia Nobis, Marina Perez, Sasha Pivovarova, Fei Fei Sun, Stella Tennant, Rianne Van Rompaey, Natalie Westling, Kiki Williems, and Raquel Zimmermann. With so many women being featured in the campaign, the designer is perhaps telling us that there is no one specific Prada woman, but many different individuals. In short, she designs for the everywoman. Each individual is different because we all bring with us our histories, trials, triumphs, and everything in between, with us on our journeys because our past experiences have shaped us to the women that we have become, and the women that we will be in the future, with all our narratives inscribed on our bodies in some way or other.
