Prada’s Fall/Winter 18 Ad Campaign, “Neon Dream”
Prada continues with the theme of neon, but unlike the previous Pre-Fall 18 “Industreality” campaign, the brand takes the campaign out of the warehouse, into the city, sin city that is. Entitled Neon Dreams, the Fall/Winter 18 campiagn is set against the nocturnal landscape of Vegas and its famous Sunset Strip. Shot by Willy Vanderperre, the campaign stars model Amanda Murphy in a series of images featuring the alien bags, the new graphic Prada logo, with lines before the “p” that are suggestive of a “Prada in motion”, as well as the revival of the iconic flame heels which first made their runway debut in Spring/Summer 2012.
The accompanying campaign film, on the other hand, also shot by Vanderperre, stars Hollywood actress Sarah Paulson. We see the actress taking on several roles; a multifaceted role, if you will. Each of the characters Paulson plays, is a representation of a different facet of the same character: a guardian angel, and a Vegas showgirl, to name a few, are all symbolic of womens’ multiplicitous roles aided simply by the type of clothes to choose to don. In short, clothes are a means through which we communicate our identities and selves.
Wearing Prada has always been an easy way to connect myself… all parts of me. So to have been asked to be part of this inventive and evocative film, which embraces the multidimensionality of womanhood, was truly thrilling ~ Sarah Paulson ~
