Britney Spears Is The Face Of Kenzo’s SS18 Campaign

I have to admit, I was a total Britney Spears fangirl in my teenage years, but only for her first 3 albums. My love affair with the former Mouseketeer ended in 2001, after the release of her self-titled album, Britney. This was also probably around the time she began to get a little trashy, and I decided that it was a tad too much for my liking. And then not long after, she went, well, a little cray-cray and I stopped keeping up with all the Britney drama after that.

Now, lo and behold, she’s back, as the face of a major fashion label – her very first designer fashion gig to date, for Kenzo‘s Spring/Summer 18 campaign. Entitled La Collection Memento N°2, the campaign is inspired by the 1986 Paris runway debut of Kenzo Jeans. With the collection mainly focussed on denim, as well as the “Icons”, expect to see lots of the tiger, The Great Wave of Kanagawa, and the Bamboo tiger, as modelled by Spears. Shot by Peter Lindbergh, here are the campaign images.

As a former Britney fangirl, my reaction was actually not, omg, yay! but more like, wait, what? Whyyy?!? The folks at Kenzo even created a dedicated hashtag, #KenzoLovesBritney for this campaign. But I have to say, though, with the abundance of bralets and thigh high lace-up sneaker-boots, I can totally understand why the Kenzo design duo picked Britney for the gig, because it oozes a vibe that is really, quintessentially Britney. I guess the only thing I have to say about this campaign though, is that I actually couldn’t recognise her until I actually saw her name… Is it me, or did she do something to the lower-half of her face, because I don’t remember her looking like this…?
