Events: Marc Jacobs Unveils Fall 2010 @ G Tower

Marc Jacobs invited guests to their Fall 2010 presentation at the Bridge Bar, on the 28th floor of the new G City Club Hotel along Jalan Tun Razak, on Thursday October 14th. With a guestlist of approximately 80 (and I happened to be one of them!), it was a glitzy affair at a very intimate and cozy setting. Sorry I don’t have pics of the place (was too busy ogling at the bags!)!

Upon arrival, I was greeted at the lobby, escorted into the lift, right up to the venue on the 28th Floor. VIP treatment indeed! Thanks N! 😉 After registration, the photographer was on standby, ever-so-ready to take a photo of the guests on the Marc Jacobs ‘wall’.
I arrived a little early, so I had the opportunity to mingle with buyers, managers, and brand managers from Club 21.
The show began after the arrival of most guests, and we soon found out why it was called “An Unveiling Night with Marc Jacobs” – 2 men began to ‘unravel and unwrap’ brown paper to reveal 4 models in a ‘mini store’ setting with 4 to 5 bags. Each model (dressed in Marc by Marc Jacobs dresses) came down the runway, stopped and posed in front of each seating area giving guests ample time to snap photos of them with the bags, with an instrumental version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as the soundtrack. Once each model had done the rounds, they resumed their ‘starting’ position, switched to another bag from the F/W 2010 collection, and await their turn.

I was later told that this concept was intended to recreate what Marc Jacobs himself did during the F/W defile presentation at Fashion Week, but on a smaller scale, complete with a final walkthrough. After the defile, guests were invited to go up to the runway/stage to look at the bags — all of which were available for purchase — and as like any other MJ event, guests were given 15% discount on all items from the collection. The highest spender would also win a matching wallet

Here are some of the bags on display (Note that this wasn’t the original visual display that was set up).

To top off an awesome night at the MJ presentation, here’s what I got!
My new “Little Stam” in Navy.

Tonight (Friday) I was supposed to attend another 2 events – cK Calvin Klein and Giuseppe Zanotti. Couldn’t get to the Calvin Klein event on time, so I didn’t go. Not really a shoe person so I skipped Zanotti, plus the dress code was “seductive”… which is another word for …… “slutty”, no?
