Event Post: Kate Spade Store Launch @ Pavilion KL

Kate Spade‘s official Flagship store launch at Pavilion KL last Thursday (September 18th) was packed full to the brim! We mingled outside the store and feasted on canapés and champagne before the doors to the store were open after the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8pm. And in true Kate Spade fashion, the ribbon cutting ceremony was not the average sort either. Instead, the release of balloons signified the officiation.

Stepping into the store, we’re greeted by a gorgeous gold centrepiece, with bags atop the platforms that reminded me of different stages of tissue wrapping that one has to unravel before you get to the goodies – yes, similar to those still shots when someone “unboxes” their haul on YouTube or Instagram.

Models were positioned on circular platforms throughout the store, dressed head to toe in Kate Spade’s Fall/Winter 14 collection, which takes inspiration from two of Asia’s fashion capitals: xnShanghai and Tokyo.

And yes, that’s the Maneki-neko bag (translation: “beckoning cat”) from the FW14 “Hello Tokyo” collection, which you might be familiar with. Of course, the original Maneki cats, which the Japanese believe is a symbol of good luck isn’t nearly as cute as the Kate Spade version. A lucky charm that’s so adorable, it really isn’t surprising that this is one of the most popular items (and not just here in KL) from the collection.

This dress is gorge! And you know what? It’s much prettier in the flesh!

Want!

Not really a sneakers kinda gal but love this season’s Kate Spade x Keds leopard printed kicks in cobalt!

See the door behind the DJ booth in the middle of Kate Spade’s signature mirrored bow walls in gilded gold? That’s the secret entrance into Quivo, the Valiram Group’s latest Mediterranean restaurant-cum-bar, also known as the venue for the After Party (The other entrance is also accessible via the alfresco area next to Illy’s Espressamente).

The stage set for the after-Party!

Oh, what a night! And we all went home with a little something…

Thanks Kate Spade for the pouch!

Thanks to the Kate Spade team for having me!
