Event Post: Desigual Fall/Winter 2014 @ Audi Fashion Festival Singapore

I headed over to Singapore for the Audi Fashion Festival. I had 4 shows to attend on Thursday May 15th (Desigual, SATURDAY, Hansel and Essential Looks 1.2014) 1 show on Friday May 16th (exhibit featuring our homegrown label Curated Editions that will be debuting their accessories collection), and 2 on Saturday 17th May (Singapore Designers Showcase, Roberta Pieri featuring our Paris-based Malaysian designer Jonathan Liang). But due to PhD deadlines, I had to return to KL on May 17th, which is why I also missed the chance to shop Pre-Spring 2015 goodies at the Blueprint Emporium. Right after Blueprint, I had a quick bite, and then off I went for my first show: Desigual. I was feeling a little bit under the weather, and my tummy was acting up, so I didn’t manage to make it for SATURDAY and Hansel later that day. I did, however, make it for Essential Looks, which was an interesting Hair show by Schwarzkopf Professionals.

The show venue for the annual Audi Fashion Fest was at its usual location, a tent built specially for the event outside Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road.

Upon entry, we were all required to register, and then once we got our show ticket, we were allowed into the venue. There were numerous activities to keep us occupied while awaiting the announcement to be asked to proceed into the show space: Of course there was the customary photo wall op (which I usually shy away from as with any other event), have your photo taken a photo with sunglasses of your choice at the Sunglass Hut booth, then learn about new SK-II products, check out the new makeup collection from NARS (one of the sponsors), ogle at the new Audi A8 and R8, nibble on canapés, quench your thirst with San Pellegrino sodas, Acqua Panna water, and even some Belvedere Vodka cocktails that you could have whipped up for you. And oh, there was a Haagen-Dazs counter, where you could have as many scoops as you wanted in 4 flavours (Macadamia Nut, Vanilla, Belgian Chocolate, and the latest flavour, Mango Raspberrry).

After about 45 minutes of mingling (I spotted twin models Choy Wan and May Wan amongst others), we were called to head into the show space. And guess what? I got a front row seat! 😉

View from my seat.

A combination of ethnic prints, florals and sheer, including monochromaticism, Desigual’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection is entitled “Why?” with a total of 50 looks, some of which feature prints designed by Christian Lacroix! (Note not all the looks are shown below).
The show began after less than 10 minutes of being seated..

I’ve had my fair share of fashion shows, and let me tell you that it was a super fun show. The models came onto the runway, all smiles, strutting, shimmying, dancing, and even blowing kisses at the audience. And then there was model Georgina Campana who even used her phone to take selfie with one of the front rowers, oh, and one lucky man got a short lap dance too! But don’t get any ideas, it was cutesy, and not at all sleazy. Of course, he was enjoying himself cos I mean, hey, it ain’t exactly an everyday occurrence to have a model sit on your lap now innit? lol

Recognise her? Model Stephanie from Asia’s Next Top Model season 1!

Yet another model from Asia’s Next Top Model season 1 (I forgot her name =P)

Blurry shot of the lap dance. Check out the gleeful look on the guy’s face lol

Love this dress!

The lips dress in the middle is yet another of my favourites! Wish they had it in-store now!!
The finale, where hearts were thrown to the audience
