Event Post: Coach Spring/Summer 2012 Press Day

Yesterday was certainly an event-filled day! My morning started off with Coach’s Spring/Summer 2012 Press Day at Nathalie’s Gourmet Studio, Menara Tai Pan (and no, it’s in KL, not in Taipan Subang lol).

Usually, someone says Coach, one automatically thinks of the monogrammed bags with the C logo in various guises. But, for Spring/Summer 2012, apparently not. Since I was there a little early, and there were only a few other members of the media present at that time, I managed to have a chat with the Coach’s brand manager, who explained that the brand is heading in a new direction: one that’s more subtle, and less “in your face” as opposed to the usual monogramed bags. In short, something that’s more classic, with the logo only seen on the hangtags on the bags. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this collection (I’m sure that by now you all know how I loathe monograms).

The Kristen range from Coach is one that I’ve always sort of liked due to the very distinguishably Kristen clasp.  The New Kristen line will be in stores May.

Kristen Range of Bags, and the Pinnacle in Grey (more about the Pinnacle in another post so stay tuned)

Up next, the Poppy range, commonly associated with the younger crowd. Gone are the sequins and graffiti that you saw for the Poppy in seasons past. This season, the Poppy girl has grown into a young lady, and we see the bags reflecting that.  The 70th Anniversary Poppy Willis (that turquoise satchel-like bag you see on the far left) is a reinterpretation of the original Willis bag from Coach’s archives.

The trio of bags you see on the right of the image below is the Poppy Vachetta Willis that is made from untreated leather which will tan with use, adding character to the bag (similar to how Vuitton handles on the monogram canvas line tans with age).

And from the new Hamptons collection, these are the new Hamptons Weekend Perforated Totes. All bags from this series have the coach logo embossed onto the leather with a perforated oval encircling the logo. Available in March 2012.

Hamptons Weekender. Prices range from RM 1800 – RM 2500

These Madison embossed snake leather totes are a little on the heavy side due to the frame top. That may be so, but this is one of my favourite shapes. These embossed snake babies are only available at the Coach Flagship stores (KLCC and Pavilion) as they’re considered as one of their luxe bags. Prices range between RM 4,000 to RM 5,000

And for the Men, the artist collaboration totes, which area also marketed under Coach’s Spring/Summer 2012 line. Since I’ve blogged about these before, I won’t say anything about them here, but if you’ve missed it, you can check out my Hugo Guinness for Coach post here and the Zhang Lan Year of the Dragon Collaboration post here. The Hugo Guinness post has prices in it.

Lastly, this straw wristlet from the Hamptons Weekend line is my favourite from the entire SS12 collection!!

Now which is YOUR favourite??
