BAA x Melissa: 3 Ways To Style Brogues

For those of you who asked me either via DM or email about which brand I’m collaborating with after seeing a sneak preview of the behind-the-scenes photos of a photo shoot that I posted on Instagram recently, here’s the big reveal!

When the Melissa team contacted me to asked if I was interested in a collaboration for their Fall/Winter 15 StarWalker collection, I was stoked! I mean, I’ve been a fan of Melissa shoes for more than a decade now, waaaaaaaayyyyy before they had opened its doors in KL, so this was certainly an opportunity I gladly seized! And since I was given free reins to develop content in any way that I wanted, I decided to do something different. While my past brand collaborations had always taken the editorial and lookbook approach, this time around I decided to do something less detached, and more, well, real, if you get what I mean.

After the positive feedback I received (both via email, DM and on Instagram ) for the different ways in which I styled the Hermès bow tie,  I thought I’d do another blogpost that’s focussed on styling.  Besides, some of my friends had previously expressed interest experimenting with this type of shoe, but didn’t know how to match it with the items in their closet, which led to a non-purchase. This fear of wearing brogues probably stems from the masculine associations that come along with it.

Without further ado, here are 3 different looks that I chose to style my Melissa x Alexandre Herchcovitch brogues.

Look 1: Casual Brights

For days when you’re feeling casual-comfy and don’t feel like putting much thought into things, put on a pair of brogues, and you’d have achieved that effortlessly cool vibe in an instant!

Look 2: Monochromatic Femininity

There is a circulating misconception that brogues can only be worn with looks with more street cred. So here I am debunking that myth by pairing it with a short flippy skirt and a ruffle-sleeved top. If you’re afraid of looking too much like a schoolgirl, opt for a girly clutch as I have done.

Look 3: Pastel Athleticism

With these sort of drawstring pants, you may want to tone down that sporty vibe with a ruffled top and a bold statement necklace so that you don’t look as if you’re about to play golf or go bowling.

And with that, it’s now time for you to put your best foot forward!

Which is your favourite look?
How would you style these brogues? (Please note these white Melissa x Alexandre Herchcovitch brogues are only available in Maroon, Grey, Black, and Black with grey laces).
