Gucci’s Courrier Collection
Patches are all the rage right now, and I’m guessing that Gucci went with a tried and tested formula after the success of the Ace sneaker with patches, and now classic Dionysus bag with both patches that could be added onto the bag (a service available only in a handful of select Gucci boutiques globally), and those that already came with the embroidered patches on them.
And now, here’s the latest from Gucci, the Courrier Collection that was inspired by Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s love for travel, hence the various stickers on the bags such as t the tiger with “Tokyo”, the 5th Avenue New York City, and 34 Old Bond Street London patches, to name a few. In fact, some of the desitination patches remind me of the stickers travellers used to accumulate on their travel trunks, back in the days, especially during the steamship era. The Courrier collection comprises a range of bags and SLGs, and iPhone cases with patches and prints that are either embroidered or printed onto the GG Supreme coated jacquard. And to tie everything in with the travel theme, the edges on the edges of SLGs have that diagonal red-white-blue striped leather trims, reminiscent of “Air Mail” envelopes.
When it comes to the bags, they, too, have that old school, vintage-esque structure and design – which is quite apt, given the fact that the SLGs are channelling the steamship travel era, don’t you think?
Personally, the SLGs are quite unisex in nature, but as for the bags, I think it’s better suited for men. What are your thoughts? Would you rock the bags?
Also, those items included in this blogpost are only a small part of the Courrier Collection. Head on over to the Gucci boutiques for a larger selection!
